Sturdy, good looking. Seat and back are very dark brown, nearly black which works well in our kitchen with its original 1954 cabinets. Put pads on base of legs so they slide better. Only wish my counter was slightly longer or stools slightly narrower so I could fit in 3 comfortably (for a guest).
