This is very rough cut lumber, which is not necessarily clear by the photograph. I have cedar beds that came with smooth sanded lumber. This is not that, but it is after all a budget friendly compost bin, so that works for me. Enough wood and spacers are provided to allow for quite a bit of flexibility in assembly. I chose to have a low side that was spaced/ventilated for easy loading/ tossing of weeds from across the garden, but I was able to have one high side assembled without spacers to hide my compost mess from the back gate/entryway. So dont expect furniture grade wood, but the setup is so easy and modular, you can play with it to make it work for your own space without much fuss. Pretty nifty. Worth the price to hide some mess in my fenced in garden with that much ease.

The Greens Cedar Wood Composter was relatively easy to setup, but also majorly cheapo. Felt more like balsa wood than cedar. You have to hammer the cross slats into place and a few of them split even with light hammer stokes. I am not inspired to purchase the extensions.

I was dreading putting this item together and let it sit unopened for a while. I finally pulled myself together, opened the box, and found the instructions. This was so easy that even a senior citizen like myself could put it together in a matter of minutes. No screws or nails or fancy attachements. It was just like the Lincoln logs of my childhood. I had the feeling that this was a well thought out design that was exquisitely simple in execution. Thank you.

I like this composted very much. It was easy to assemble as long as you keep it level and square. A mallet is needed to bang down the lower boards. I I like the option of adding more bins. Inside grooves are a bit scrappy so I didnt give it a 5.
Create an environmentally friendly, economic composting system with Greenes Composting Bins. These cedar bins allow you to turn household waste into a natural food for your lawn, garden, and flower beds. Simply layer greens (such as vegetable and fruit peelings, coffee grounds, tea bags, and grass clippings) and browns (such as eggshells, cardboard, corncobs, and cotton towels) and allow materials to begin to compost. The bins' open design makes it easy to turn the pile every two to three weeks with a shovel or pitchfork to aerate the product and speed up the breakdown process. Depending on the climate and the mix of materials, your compost will be ready to use in 3 to 12 months. To keep a continuous supply, create a multi-bin system with our add-on kits; after one bin is full and the materials have begun to break down, simply move them to the next bin and begin the process again in the first bin. A three-bin system will keep the process moving seamlessly. Greenes composting bins are available in 36 in. x 36 in. x 31 in./23.25 cu. ft. and include 4 posts, 28 boards, and 48 spacers. Cover with a tarp or plywood (not included) if desired. Product ID 58885971
