This item is a brushed stainless on the top. I think the black feet are painted metal but Im not sure. I have white quartz counter and the black feet have not made any marks but the napkin holder doesnt really get moved around much to make that happen. The item is nice quality and it looks better in person than it does in the picture, although the pic is a good representation. The item can show fingerprints, but I use a bit of stainless steel cleaner (after wiping my appliances) and it comes right off. Since we can easily grab a napkin without touching the metal part, its not a big issue at all. I recommend this item.
