This unit was designed for a standard 8 flat ceiling. We have a 9 vaulted ceiling, so I had to make so modifications to the hanger hardware to get it installed. The ducts were three different colors (white, pale grey and battleship grey) so my 12" silver extension pretty much fits right in. Well either paint the whole duct or veneer it with wood look material. The lights in the unit are excellent. However, the fan is so loud (even on low speed) that it is almost useless. Ill be looking for a quieter fan to replace what came. Also, we added a ductless kit. Because of the loudness of the fan I would not recommend this unit to anyone.
